Maelle Gavet Biography

Maelle Gavet is the Company’s Independent Director. She is a graduate of La Sorbonne University, Ecole Normale Superieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, and IEP de Paris; in 2001, she set up Predstavitelskij, a Russian corporate events company, before joining the Boston Consulting Group as a partner in 2003. She joined as Sales and Marketing Director in 2010, and in April 2011, she was promoted to Chief Executive Officer. In 2015, she was named Executive Vice-President of Global Operations for Priceline Group, and in January 2017, she was named Chief Operating Officer of Compass.

Maelle Gavet Early Life

Gavet was born in a “lower middle class” family in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt. When she was 16, she established her first business organizing children’s birthday parties in the Paris suburbs. She studied Russian language in school to increase her chance to get into an elite college.


She received her bachelor’s degree from the Sorbonne in 2000, her master’s degree from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris in 2002, and her doctorate from the Ecole Normale Superieure de Lettres et Sciences humaines in 2003. Gavet is trilingual, speaking French, Russian, and English.

She is the Chief Operating Officer of Priceline Group. Gavet speaks French, Russian, and English fluently. Gavet was a Principal at Boston Consulting Group from 2003 to 2009.

Gavet joined The Priceline Group in June 2015. In 2014 Maelle Gavet joined the board of directors of Edenred EDEN (Environmental Protection Agency).

Gavet joined Compass Inc as COO in January 2017 after the abrupt departure of CEO Darren Houston. Gavet announced her departure from Compass Inc in October 2019 till September 2019. She resigned because of a strategic disagreement with CEO Robert Reffkin.

Maelle Gavet wrote a book about technology and empathy after leaving Compass, which was published in 2020. She’s also looking for investors to help her buy a technological firm.

In January of 2021, Maelle Gavet became CEO and a board member at Techstars.


Gavet entered into several international ratings: Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women is called Women to Watch. She was also ranked 10th out of 100 on Fast Company’s list of the most creative people in business and 26th in Fortune’s list of the 40 under 40.
